Felipe Castilho é um autor do gênero fantasia. Ficou conhecido pela série O Legado Folclórico. Em 2017 foi indicado ao prêmio Jabuti. Nesse mesmo ano lançou o livro Ordem Vermelha: Filhos da Degradação (2017) pela Intrínseca. Seu mais novo livro, Serpentário (2019), foi lançado pela mesma editora.
A história se passa em dois momentos, 1999 e 2019. Mariana, Caroline, Hélio e Paulo eram amigos inseparáveis que passavam o verão perambulando entre Barra do Sahy e a Praia da Baleia, no litoral paulista. No réveillon de 1999, um acontecimento estranho abala a amizade dos 4 e os envolve em um grande mistério.
Quase 20 anos depois, os amigos retornam à Barra do Sahy em uma tentativa de entenderem o que se passou naquela fatídica virada de ano. Muitos mistérios aguardam os antigos amigos, que precisarão se unir para sobreviver. Nesse novo contexto, porém, muita coisa mudou na vida de cada um. Os amigos percorreram caminhos totalmente diferentes, mas é interessante como eles ainda mantém algo de suas personalidades de quando eram adolescentes.
Serpentário (2019) apresenta uma consistente mitologia que é compartilhada por outras obras de Castilho. Os Antigos, a ilha misteriosa e a serpente gigante formam um mistério que não nos deixa largar o livro. A história encanta e intriga. Mariana, Caroline, Hélio e Paulo são personagens muito reais e palpáveis, assim como todos os ambientes descritos pelo autor.
A história contada em dois momentos que se alternam traz dinamismo à leitura. Em nenhum momento ela se torna maçante, pois a cada página um novo elemento é apresentado, tanto para solucionar o mistério, quanto para torná-lo mais complexo. Por vezes parece que a história nos conduz, citando um trecho do livro, “para dentro e para baixo, para dentro e para baixo”.
Um ponto forte são as introduções de capítulos que trazem fragmentos de outras histórias relacionadas de alguma forma à ilha misteriosa. Elas permitem que o leitor se aprofunde mais na mitologia, que em nenhum momento é explicada de forma detalhada, o que contribui para a sensação de descoberta a cada novo elemento apresentado.
Castilho prende a atenção do leitor com maestria. Em sua escrita relaciona mitologia brasileira, mitologia nórdica, nazismo, elementos dos anos 90 e relações de amizade. A mistura, mesmo que pareça peculiar em um primeiro momento, resultou em uma história bastante atrativa e cativante.
